Any form of exercise is going to be really great for reducing stress, from yoga to kickboxing to running to weight lifting.
First, as discussed in an earlier point, exercise can improve your mood.
Having a better mood can make you more adaptable and able to see things in a more positive light.
Having this approach to stressful things in life will help you deal with these less than ideal events and come through them less scathed.
Meditation is one of the most advised methods of stress relief. Exercise is meditation, but with more physical activity.
By moving you are focusing on your body and reaching a goal instead of the stresses of the day.
The more you move, the more you can subconsciously process these stressors and deal with them.
If nothing else, moving gets your mind off of them, even for a little while.
Physical activity releases endorphins which make you feel good.
When you feel good, even if it is just for a short time, stressors can seem less intense. This can give you a window of perspective to look at issues realistically and find productive way to handle the issues.
And starting the day out with this positive outlook and reduced stress can make dealing with new stress throughout the day more manageable. (16)
Take away: Let go of stress, embrace the sweat.
